Our urban gardening initiatives empower women and girls—including those with disabilities—by teaching practical skills in Vertical Vegetable Gardening, Container Gardening, and Indoor Herb Gardening. Using accessible materials and small spaces like balconies or windowsills, participants learn to grow nutritious vegetables and herbs such as lettuce, spinach, cherry tomatoes, basil, and mint.
These hands-on programs promote healthy living, self-reliance, and environmental sustainability, while building confidence, resilience, and entrepreneurial skills. Gardening also creates safe, inclusive spaces for social connection, knowledge sharing, and community participation, helping vulnerable women and girls access fresh food and explore small-scale income opportunities.

Together, these initiatives foster independence, mental well-being, and economic empowerment—enabling women and girls to thrive and contribute to their local food systems.

This project empowers women and girls, including those with disabilities, by providing them with the skills and resources to create their own indoor herb gardens.
Through training on setting up small pots with herbs such as basil, cilantro, and mint, participants learn sustainable gardening techniques that enhance their independence and access to fresh ingredients. The activity fosters confidence, promotes healthy living, and offers a safe, accessible space for women and girls to connect, share knowledge, and develop new skills in a supportive environment.
