Pillar 2: Business Development Services (BDS) & Enterprise Growth
IHU provides comprehensive Business Development Services (BDS) that strengthen the performance, competitiveness, sustainability and growth of enterprises, cooperatives, farmer organizations and community institutions. Our support includes enterprise diagnostics, business advisory services, business planning, financial management, governance strengthening, coaching, mentorship and enterprise improvement planning.
We work with MSMEs, agripreneurs, producer organizations, women-led enterprises, youth enterprises, persons with disabilities and other underserved entrepreneurs to improve business performance, strengthen organizational systems, access finance and investment, connect to markets and create sustainable employment and income opportunities.
Agribusiness Development
Agriculture is the livelihood of most of the communities we serve, so agribusiness sits at the centre of our enterprise work. IHU supports farmers, agripreneurs, cooperatives and rural enterprises to turn production into profitable, market-oriented businesses. We strengthen agricultural value chains, facilitate buyer-seller linkages and business-to-business partnerships, and support value addition, post-harvest handling, branding and packaging so that producers earn more from what they grow. Through enterprise incubation and acceleration, financial literacy, bookkeeping and investment readiness, we help agribusinesses improve productivity, access finance and build resilience. Our agribusiness work includes the WFP Agricultural Market Support Programme in Karamoja, where IHU provides Business Development Services to strengthen agricultural enterprises and market linkages.
