Women in the Grain Value Chain
IHU trained 4700 women in the grain value chain, focusing on improved agronomic practices, post harvest handling aggregation, financial literacy and collective marketing.
Within one season, women reported:
- 40% increase in yields
- 30% reduction in post-harvest losses
- Higher selling prices through group bulking
The group now supplies rice to nearby schools, earning predictable weekly income for their families.
Women in block farming
A group of 3200 women farmers have received capacity building in block farming, quality grading, and enterprise management.
Women have formed micro-enterprises which now:
- buys from local producers
- sorts & grades rice
- sells to local traders and millers
Income increased by 50%, enabling women to support school fees, savings groups, and household needs.
