IHU promotes sustainable management of natural resources and community-led approaches that protect ecosystems while strengthening livelihoods and enterprise opportunities. We recognize that communities depend on healthy land, ecosystems and natural resources for food, income and long-term wellbeing. Our work therefore connects biodiversity conservation, sustainable land use, climate-smart agriculture and nature-positive livelihoods with community economic empowerment. We place communities at the centre of natural resource management and promote inclusive participation so that women, youth, persons with disabilities and other community members can contribute to and benefit from conservation and environmentally responsible livelihood opportunities.
